The
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has faulted Governor Ayodele
Fayose for declaring himself as agent of change for the state. The party
accused the governor of claiming credit for former Governor Kayode Fayemi’s
achievements, saying partitioning of roads built by Fayemi and erecting
electricity poles he bought in local governments should not be projects that
Fayose would be celebrating.
Fayose Fayose The party said that instead of
acting as an agent of change for development, the governor has in two years
reversed the fortunes attained by his predecessor in four years. Publicity
Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, while reviewing the governor’s activities in the
last two years said in a statement in Ado-Ekiti that ”it was regrettable that
Fayose has been using an alleged election fraud to sustain himself in power.”
The statement added that:” The recent revelation and confession of Obanikoro
that Fayose allegedly shared in the loot of the national treasury was a cause
of concern to Ekiti people”.
In his reaction, the State Publicity Secretary
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Jackson Adebayo, said the PDP-led
government of Governor Ayodele Fayose, has succeeded in reversing the
misfortunes placed on Ekiti and the people by the immediate past government of
the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adebayo said the Fayose-led administration
in the last two years, has taken Ekiti to a place of pride in the areas of
education, infrastructure, security, health and social amenities among others.
Meantime, the PDP in the State has described yesterday’s meeting of the Special
Adviser to the President on Political Matters and former Senator, representing
Ekiti Central, Senator Babafemi Ojudu with members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle
Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) as a confirmation that the federal
government and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State were in support
of the invasion of the State by Fulani herdsmen. The party, through the State
Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Jackson Adebayo, expressed worry that
Senator Ojudu could choose to play politics with the lives and sources of
livelihood of Ekiti people. The statement added that “with Ojudu’s display of
friendship with members of the Miyetti Allah, despite the threat issued by the
association against the government and people of Ekiti State, the State and its
people must have seen who their real enemy is.” The party said it was curious
that Ojudu and the APC led Federal Government could be more concerned with the
lives of cows than the lives of Ekiti people.
