Quantum computing uses principles such as superposition and entanglement to process certain types of problems differently from conventional computers. Unlike traditional computers, which rely primarily on bits represented as 0 or 1, quantum computers use qubits. This distinction could eventually transform optimisation, drug discovery, financial modelling, cryptography, logistics, materials science, and scientific simulation. For the Nigerian quantum computing future, however, the immediate opportunity may be less about owning expensive quantum hardware and more about developing the software, talent, research capacity, and infrastructure needed to use quantum resources effectively.
